Zero Waste Food Contest

  • The Blue Door Diner 18 Smith Terrace Thurso, Scotland, KW14 7JY United Kingdom (map)

There is nothing better than gathering to share a nice meal!

Let’s revive this almost forgotten pleasure of community pot-luck, when friends and neighbours sit at the big table, all generations together, to break the bread and enjoy hearty home-made food.

Everybody is welcome to come along to the pot-luck, even if you are not contributing a dish to the contest, though we encourage you to do so.

For example, we, here at the Trust, will cook soup from our Sharing Shed vegies and make plenty of herbal tea that we will forage during our Foraging Walk.

The categories that you can compete in:

  • cooking from scraps

  • cooking from leftover food

  • de-cluttering your cupboards

  • using ingredients from Sharing Shed (please think of using 1 ingredient from Sharing Shed, plan ahead and pick your ingredient in advance)

  • energy saving cooking methods

  • youngest chef - age 0 to 10

  • senior chef - age 75+

To enter your dish for contest, please fill in the form below.

The honoured panel of judges will be formed from our amazing members of Seniors Lunch Club. Let’s do our best to please them and offer a lot of delicious and interesting dishes for them to taste!
