Volunteer with us!
Make a difference in your community!
Whether you have an hour a month or a day a week (or anything in between!) we’d love to hear from you.
Thurso Community Development Trust is dedicated to enhancing community life for Thurso residents and the surrounding area. We run several local projects within the community driven mainly by the help of our fantastic volunteers. We couldn’t do any of our work without our wonderful community and volunteers, and we value the contribution each and every individual brings to the Trust!
Senior Lunch Club
Senior Lunch Club is always the last Tuesday of the month! Volunteers help prepare and serve a monthly meal for local seniors, creating a welcoming and social environment. The role includes assisting with meal preparation, setting up and clearing tables, supporting attendees with mobility or other needs, and promoting conversation and participation.
Volunteers follow health, safety, and hygiene procedures and provide friendly, respectful engagement to reduce social isolation and enhance wellbeing. This role offers flexible monthly involvement, opportunities to gain experience in food service and community engagement, and the chance to make a positive impact on older adults in the community.
Thurso Community Gardens
Community Garden Volunteers help maintain and develop Thurso Community Development Trust’s shared garden space, supporting the growth of flowers, vegetables, and herbs while promoting sustainability and community engagement.
The role involves planting, watering, weeding, harvesting, maintaining paths and structures, supporting workshops or activities, and welcoming community members and visitors. Volunteers gain practical gardening skills, contribute to environmental sustainability and wellbeing, and enjoy flexible weekly involvement as part of a supportive community initiative.
