Film Nights

The Climate Action Film Nights took place in serene and beautiful Halladale Hall. It is located in a picturesque and remote hamlet of Dalhalvaig in Flow Country which makes it a perfect venue to enjoy the magical art of cinematography. There was a possibility to use shared transport from Thurso to Halladale Hall.

Halladale Hall is a traditional spot for our collaborator, Halladale Film Club, where they regularly meet for watching films and having meals and chats.

On the 8th of September "Just Eat It" film was demonstrated. This film is about the frightening scale of food waste and what we can do to change this grave situation.

You can watch the trailer for this film here:

On the 9th of September Halladale Film Club demonstrated the "River" film. Narrated by Willem Defoe, River takes its audience on a journey through space and time; spanning six continents, and drawing on extraordinary contemporary cinematography, including satellite filming, the film shows rivers on scales and from perspectives never seen before. Its union of image, music and sparse, poetic script create a film that is both dream-like and powerful, honouring the wildness of rivers but also recognising their vulnerability.

The trailer for “River“ is below:

On each film night, there was also an excellent home-made meal shared, and a discussion of the films.
