Community Support - Weeks 25 & 26

Another fortnight into 2020 and updates from weeks 25 & 26 of our Covid-19 community support updates! The number of calls and meals has reduced again on the last fortnight and the admin team continue to chat to community members about support going forward.

In the last fortnight we've:

πŸ’™ Delivered 331 meals

πŸ’™ Actioned 52 requests for shopping/prescription.

This week we celebrated Scottish Climate Week. Covid19 has allowed us to explore avenues in climate action we perhaps wern’t considering before which I guess you could call a silver lining! The meal service had such a strong uptake, we’re keen to work on that in the long term while using local resources and reducing waste as much as we possibly can. Joan has organised the Thurso Community Christmas for the last few (I want to say 3) years and we're working on how we can bring this event and the meals together into a formal operation. It'll take quite a bit of planning but cogs are turning! On the plus side, the Thurso Grows team are already growing the sprouts for Christmas!

As you might know, the community support service has been funded by the Scottish Government until the end of September. We continue to work on what future support might look like and how we can offer the service without specific financial support. Watch this space!
