Since my teenage years playing football for Thurso Pentland and Acks I have always been interested in what happens in the town and taken part in local activities. Over the years I have seen many changes in Thurso, some good, some not so good. With the formation of the Thurso Community Development Trust I think the time is right to make the most of what the area has to offer and if the local community can join together with the TCDT I believe we can make Thurso an even better place to live and work.

I was born in Dunbar Hospital and brought up in Castletown. I attended Thurso High School, leaving at 15 to start an apprenticeship with Rolls Royce. I joined Northern Constabulary in 1975, then in 1978 I married Thurso girl Kirsty (Swanson) and we took up residence in Thurso. Later that year I moved to Dounreay Police and retired in 2015 having spent virtually all my working life in the Thurso area. I'm a member of Thurso Heritage Society, Vice Chair of CHAT, Co- opted member of Thurso Community Council and a member of Dounreay Stakeholders Group.
